Last week we talked about Identity and Imposter Syndrome and I shared my experience of how being a new mom again has thrust me back into old habits and beliefs that I am stuck in this motherhood season and I am no longer allowed to pursue my own goals.
I have definitely had my share of these imposter thoughts or even just ideas that I am not nor will I ever be successful... But what is success anyway? The first thing I had to revisit to expose and work through this lie is to re-define what success is for me. What is it that I can look around and say that I AM successful? This is such an individual process to go through, but there are some common steps that can help us with this.
I encourage you to stop now, take out a journal, and work on this exercise for just a few minutes and define one point of success for your life. Holy Spirit, we invite you into this place in our hearts to reveal and expose your love in our life and a place where we need more light. We trust you to bring healing and hope into this area where we need to understand success in this place. I ask you God, to bring peace to your daughter and meet her right where she is at. Expose the lie of the enemy and reveal your truth as she works through this exercise. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice that makes this possible! Amen. Okay! Wow, what an emotional experience to work through this exercise!!!! I paused and worked on it too!!! For me, it would be good to define a statement of success as a mother. Especially since this is a season of motherhood that is very limiting for anything outside of my babies, including self-care.
Joy! Oh what a great goal!!!! I realized in working through this exercise that joy is so attainable! It just takes intentionality. “God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:10-12 Wow! Remember, Momma, you are a minister to the saints. Your children, your husband, your friends! All of them are saints! And the God who sees, sees YOU! He sees your diligence; your labor of love, and it does not go unnoticed. Remain intentional and you will inherit the promises!
